With its unique rustic appearance, the Basque burnt cheesecake originates from Spain. Cooked at high heat, the exterior of the cake is intentionally burnt to form a crust that perfectly compliments the sweet and creamy centre. Trust us, once you go Basque, you’ll never go back, you will be amazed by the melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Totally! That soft centre is exactly how Basque cheesecakes are meant to be — creamy, custardy, and a little gooey. It's fully baked, just not set firm like a classic cheesecake. And don’t worry, we only use pasteurised ingredients, so it’s perfectly safe to eat.

We specialise in Basque cheesecakes — rich, creamy, and available in a variety of flavours. In store, we also serve coffee and other drinks to go with your cake.

We aim to have 4–5 rotating flavours available by the slice each day, with Original always on the menu. To keep everything fresh, we bake in small batches — so some flavours might sell out quickly.

All our cheesecakes are gluten-free and made with pasteurised ingredients.

Ingredients for each flavour are listed on their respective product pages. While we do our best to minimise cross-contamination and clean thoroughly between preparing each flavour, please note that our kitchen handles common allergens including dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, tree nuts, sesame, and peanuts. This means we cannot guarantee the complete absence of allergens, even if they are not listed in a specific product.

Our ingredients are not Halal certified, but we do not use alcohol or gelatine, so our cheesecakes are generally Halal-friendly by ingredient.

Our cheesecake slices are best enjoyed within one day for maximum freshness, while whole (uncut) cakes can be stored in the fridge for up to three days. Once a cake is cut, be sure to cover it properly to prevent it from drying out or absorbing any unwanted odours from the fridge. For food safety, please don’t leave cheesecakes at room temperature for more than two hours.

If you’ll be carrying your cake for more than two hours — especially in hot weather or if your cake has cream toppings — we highly recommend using a cooler bag. You’re welcome to bring your own, or you can purchase one from our store to help keep your cake fresh and safe on the way home.

Only whole cakes are available for pre-order. Slice flavours rotate daily in-store, so if you're after a particular flavour, we recommend ordering a whole cake in advance. The smallest size is 5-inch — perfect for 2 to 4 people.

Pre-orders close 2 days in advance at 1pm.

We bake a limited number of whole cakes for in-store purchase, but flavours vary daily and aren't guaranteed. If you miss the pre-order window, you're welcome to drop by — just know that extras are limited as we bake to minimise waste. To avoid missing out, we strongly recommend placing your order online in advance.

Our regular pickup hours are Wednesday to Sunday, with available timeslots shown at checkout when you place your order. If you need to arrange pickup outside of these times, feel free to email us — we’ll do our best to help!

We're currently a single-location store based in Melbourne — and the only Betterburnt store! All our cheesecakes are freshly baked in-house right here. If you're not nearby, you're always welcome to pre-order online and pick up when it suits you.
